The Swing

Leaning back with legs stretched out, I glide through the air.  Bending my knees and tucking my heels, I retrace my arc. Sailing forward again, ignoring earth’s grasp, I let go and leap.

About Paula J Wray

I am a writer and I live in the Rocky Mountains of southwest Colorado with my husband and a balding black cat. I write humor, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, inspirational essays, and poetry. When I'm not writing, making lists, or forcing a family member to listen to something I've written, I'm reading, gardening, or laughing with my friends. I also, occasionally, sit and stare.

Your words made me feel like I was the one on the swing! I enjoyed this.

  2. Swings – every moment beautifully expressed.

I loved swinging (I avoided jumping, though because I never landed gracefully :))

Nice picture, too. It makes me feel like I’m soaring in the air.

Letting go and leaving the swing while it was at its highest was a thrill. Landing was never a sure thing. Thanks for the comment.
