Priorities

I heard the scrabbling noise in the wall behind the bookcase, muted the tv to listen carefully and thought, “Mice!”, while I was careful not to disturb the cat sleeping on my lap.

About Paula J Wray

I am a writer and I live in the Rocky Mountains of southwest Colorado with my husband and a balding black cat. I write humor, flash fiction, creative non-fiction, inspirational essays, and poetry. When I'm not writing, making lists, or forcing a family member to listen to something I've written, I'm reading, gardening, or laughing with my friends. I also, occasionally, sit and stare.

You could let the cat go do his job. Sort of an early Christmas present! Nice one!

I have this same problem. Fortunately for me, my two cats are all too happy to help me out with the critters 😀

Zipporah rid us of the beasties a few nights later. Found the carcasses on the living room floor. Its just that, for some reason, I hate to dislodge her from my lap when she’s sleeping. It is plain who is in charge around here.

This is funny! I’ve pulled muscles trying to get out of bed without disturbing my cat. Something very wrong with that picture (I also know who’s boss around here….and it isn’t me!)

Two mornings ago, my son came out of his room to announce there was “something dead” on his floor. Indeed. The kitties brought him a rodent present. Gross.

  8. I love the ending, the way you put it. Great.
